Woke civil servants blasted for holding ‘nonsense' seminars during working day
WOKE civil servants held seminars on impostor syndrome, pan-Africanism and trans lives.
Critics said the events organised by Department for Education staff groups in the middle of the working day were 'nonsense'.
Two one-hour sessions were held on Trans Lives in September 2023 and another in February this year.
Another event, which ran for an hour from noon in October last year, focused on Pan-Africanism — an ideology of racial solidarity among those of African descent.
And in April this year, one staff network held an hour-long session from 1pm on Lesbian Identity, Love, and Community.
In 2023, sessions were also held on men's menopause awareness, navigating impostor syndrome at work and the 'identities and challenges of bisexual individuals'.
A number of sessions also marked religious occasions.
John O'Connell, chief executive of the TaxPayers' Alliance, said: 'These nonsense navel-gazing networks continue to waste taxpayer time and cash.
'Ministers said they don't want to see these events and meetings taking place during working hours.
'Yet they are clearly being ignored. Elected politicians need to be demanding action from Whitehall bosses.'
Other Whitehall departments have also held barmy woke network meetings, including a 'listening circle for trans colleagues and allies' at the Department for Energy at 11am for an hour.
And a 90-minute presentation called Wars, Fires and Pandemics: How Events Shaped Our Buildings was held at the Treasury in May.
